Do you speak a language besides English?

Question

Occasionally, the Greeters encounter guests who speak a language other than English, and we would love to be able to find more people who can help these guests feel welcome. There are a couple of ways you can make yourself available to help:

• Add your name and language to our Language Volunteers page. 
• Add the Languages template to your profile, and you'll automatically be added to the appropriate sub-category in the Wikitreers by Language category.

Ideally, you'll do both. :-)

Is your language or language proficiency level missing from the Languages template? Respond here if I can help to add any missing languages. I'm working through the alphabet and reviewed through Hungarian yesterday. :)

Hi--there seems to be an error in the Arabic (ar) template, and I don't have permissions to the template. You can see it messing up in my profile, Hoffman-5880.

Let me know if you need some verbiage for "this user speaks Arabic".

Aleš, thanks - I actually don't know how to add support for RTL languages. I barely survived adding Hebrew and can't figure out how to add Arabic. I was attempting to copy from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:User_ar but they use extra templates we don't have.

Yes, several of them. I'm technically a polyglot (I'm fluent in English, basic/intermediate in French & Spanish, and have a varying grasp on several others). The languages template really needs to be updated because there are several errors.

Added:  since we seem to have many native Spanish and French speakers (I can get someone in my hubby's family if you need Bretton, but none of them are fluent), I only listed Turkish, and Hebrew.  If you need Ladino (Hebreo-Spanish) I can add it as well, but those families generally do not need help with translations.

Jeg snakker norsk (I speak Norwegian)

I've been a casual contributor to Wikipedia for many years, and so I added the language template to my WT bio when I first set it up in March 2018. I've now added myself to the list, which I was totally unaware of until I stumbled across this thread.
