In a letter dated March 13, 1992 from Victor P Meador to Marilyn Knapp Litt, Mr Meador addresses his original reasoning for placing Sarah Atkinson as the wife of Jehu Meador. After his having examined the will of Samuel Atkinson (Cumberland Co., VA, WB 3, Page 34, dated 7 May 1794), the will of Joseph Hubbard (Halifax Co VA, Bk 6, page 112, dated 13 June 1799, proven 28 Oct 1799), and the will of Joab Meador written 1815 in Pittsylvania County Virginia, he states that in his opinion the two wives of these brothers have been incorrectly switched.
His final statement in this 1992 letter is "I think that we can speculate that Mrs Jehu was Sarah Hubbard and that Mrs Joab was Sarah Atkinson, at least until some stronger evidence comes along." Note that this letter was written after the publication of Meador Families of Virginia and Points West (1989)
If no one has found any stronger evidence yet, I propose that the two women, Sarah Atkinson (Atkinson-1209) and Sarah Hubbard (Hubbard-998) be removed from their current pairings and switched as Mr Meador suggests. So that Atkinson-1209 is the wife of Meador-181 and that Hubbard-998 is the wife of Meador-172.
I have contacted the profile managers privately and received no indication of any further evidence discovered to date. I will place a note on each of the profiles involved as to what I would like to change. A copy of the above mentioned letter from V P Meador is in my files if anyone would like to view it.
