Have you taken a DNA test and uploaded to Gedmatch.com for free? If yes, THANK YOU! You have helped potentially thousands of people to easily compare DNA with you.
But have you uploaded to Gedmatch Genesis? If yes, have you entered the kit# here at WikiTree? I had forgotten and just did it. Why should it matter? 1) Gedmatch Genesis allows uploads from companies that the regular Gedmatch does not (such as Living DNA and the newer 23andMe tests). This means more DNA matches for you. 2) And because WikiTree now allows the entering of the Genesis kit#, you have another place for potential matches.
To get to Gedmatch Genesis, log in to your regular Gedmatch account. Go towards the bottom on the right and look for the Gedmatch Genesis link. You will have to log in again, but can use the same log-in for the regular Gedmatch. Once logged in, you have a link on the right to upload your raw DNA. And just like the regular Gedmatch, it takes 24-48 hours before you can fully use the features.
Eventually Gedmatch and Gedmatch Genesis will be merged. I look forward to that day! But in the meantime, make sure you have uploaded to both and have added both kit numbers to WikiTree.
