Name for Adoptee

My grandfather was adopted.  I know his mother's name, but all I know about his father is what she told the authorities, as she didn't marry the father.  The boy's LNAB was Berg, and his full name was August Bernard Carter Berg.  His mother said that father was John Carter. The adopted name was Edgar Francis Viles.

I was planning to change his LNAB from Viles to Berg, and make his Proper First Name "August Bernard Carter," (even though this is three names).  Then his CLN would be Viles and his Preferred Name would be: Edgar Francis.  That way, you could find him no matter how you looked him up.  (Of course I will put proper links to a set of parents in the bio.)

Is this a reasonable approach?

Vic, I think that's the perfect way to handle that situation.
