swedish mythology merge

Question

Today, I created an unmerged match for Turkey-11 and Turkey-61. They have many similarities, but one parent looks different, and they seem all to be quite mythical, so I'm not sure what to do here. Can anyone specialized in this area give some direction here?

Oh dear. One of them has a father named Odin Woden. Odin has a lot of siblings named Odin as well.

Normally I just delete profiles of deities (that's why there aren't as many Jesus and God profiles around here as there used to be). So maybe keep the parents of the other one, who appear to possibly be real people. If there are no objections, I'd like to delete the various Odin profiles. Thoughts?

OK, thanks. I completed the merge, keeping Bengori as the father.

I'm not sure whether deleting Odin helps much. Chances are that when there is no Odin left, someone will create him again, so maybe it's better to merge all but one away.

I don't know, Enno. When this came up the first time, we figured that merging them suggested that we approved of these profiles existing, which is why we went with deletion instead.

I would hope that these profiles are no longer being created; in every case I've seen, they're the result of old GEDCOM uploads, and there's very little chance they'd make it through the import process now.

That's right, and in that case deletion is the most consistent thing that you can do.
