Need advice on Fearing gedcom mess [closed]

Oh my word! I want to make sure that I've sorted this out correctly, so I'd like some help. Another pair of eyes! I found vital records for Wareham online, but can't access any for Sandwich, Massachusetts (still under copyright).

Nathan Willis Jr.'s second wife was Lucy Fearing Dogget. Her profile originally had her listed as the daughter of Noah Fearing and Lucy (Unknown) Fearing. However, Lucy Fearing Dogget Willis was the daughter of Noah Fearing and Mary Nye Fearing! There are two entries for Lucy Fearing in the Wareham birth records:

1:241 Fearing, Lucy b. 30-Jun 1789 Israel Lucy bpt. 10 Feb 1789; b. Jan?

1:258 Fearing, Lucy b. 10-Jan 1772 Noah Mary

Her mother Mary's profile originally had her death date as 1768, but her actual death date was April 18, 1788 (this death date was also recorded on the Unknown profile!). I detached Unknown as spouse of Noah and fixed Lucy's mother.

I originally thought Lucy Unknown Fearing should be attached to Noah's brother Israel Fearing, but he died in 1753. Wareham marriage of Lucy Bourne to Israel Fearing is recorded in 1769. Israel Fearing IV is listed as Brig. Gen. Israel Fearing and bio says married to Lucy Bourne (spouse not attached).

Next, I followed family trees on FamilySearch starting with Lucy Fearing Dogget Willis until I found Lucy Bourne. Lucy on Family Search. This shows she was the daughter of Thomas Bourne.

I'd like to know the best way to proceed since I'm not the profile manager for Unknown and everything on the current profile's gedcom is wrong. These are the steps I think I should take:

1. Change Unknown's name to Bourne.
2. Correct all existing dates and remove all gedcom info.
3. Attach as child of Thomas Bourne.
4. Attach as wife of Israel Fearing.

Are these the correct steps to take? Am I missing anything?

Hi, I edited your post to fix a formatting issue that caused some paragraphs to be truncated. I hope that helps you get some answers on this profile!

I'd agree those are the steps to take. Personally I'd probably switch the first two and start by cleaning up the profile, adding all the sources and writing a bio explaining everything. Once that's done I'd see if the PMs can either add you to the TL or change the last name. If you clean up the bio first the PMs can see all the research you've done and the sources for the new last name when you request them to make the change. I might be good to let the PMs know ahead of time that you're making changes, but since neither one is very active and the profile hasn't really been worked on you can probably just go a head with the changes.

Edit: Also is there evidence for the THomas Bourne connection beyond the FS tree? Like a will or birth record?

There is a linked birth record on that FamilySearch profile for Lucy Bourne with birth record which shows father as Thomas Bourne and mother's name as Mary. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q29L-RCJP

Since Sandwich, Massachusetts vitals are still under copyright, I can't really check those files.
