Biography

Name

Susannah /Brasseur/
Susannah /Brashears/
Susannah Marie /BRASSEUR/
Susannah Marie BRASHEARS

This quote is from the page for her father at Pitard.net (cited above): "His last name variously appears as Brasseur, Brasher, Brashear, Brashears, Brassieur. He arrived in Nansemond Co., Virginia in 1637. He was the first Huguenot to settle in Maryland. He called his plantation "Brashear's Purchase" in the Upper Cliffs of Calvert Co."
It appears that different descendants of her father (Benjamin or Benoit Brasseur) used several different Americanized spellings of the name. From what I've seen it appears that Susannah used the Brashears variant. I have left Brasseur as last name at birth because it appears that was the original spelling of her father's surname. Still, I have seen no birth record and can't say for certain that such a record, if it exists, wouldn't give one of the Americanized spellings.

Brasseurs-1 and Brasseur-21 appear to represent the same person because: Parents and death date match. Birth place and date need resolving.

Brasseur-21 and Brasseurs-1 do not represent the same person because: Merge is actually fine; just fixing the proposed merge direction at request of merge proposer.

Brashears-142 and Brasseur-21 appear to represent the same person because: Same parents; same birth/death dates. Per Brasseur-21, we seem to be using Brasseur as her LNAB, so I've pointed the merge in this direction.

UNKNOWN-215088 and Brasseur-21 appear to represent the same person because: Susannah UNKNOWN-215088 is in my database as married to Mareen Duvall, and is presumably actually Susanna Brasseur; the information I have was sketchy or wildly estimated, so go with the dates etc. on Brasseur-21.
