Martha (Brooks) Bateman immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).
Martha Brooks was born in England. She married, as his 1st wife, by 1645, Thomas/2 Bateman of Concord, Massachusetts, son of Sgt. William/1 Bateman. She died at Concord 3 Aug 1665.
Neither Shattuck nor Cutter mention her among the children of Henry Brooks of Woburn, nor is she mentioned in Henry's will, as she predeceased her father by 18 years. Her husband, however, was overseer of the will of Thomas/1 Fox, who married her sister Hannah. In 1738 her son (or grandson) Eleazer Bateman, calling himself "a kinsman of David Fox" (Martha's nephew), put forth a claim for the latter's rights based on service in the Phips expedition against Canada, 1690.
