Elizabeth S. "Betsey" Chase was born in that part of Machias, Maine, set off in 1826 as East Machias, 4 Feb 1797, ^[1] the daughter of Apollos Chase and Ann "Nancy" Scott; ^[2] died at Perry, Maine, 24 Aug 1874; ^[3] married at Machias, Maine, 31 Jan 1837, Isaac Loring, ^{[4] [5]} born at Hingham, Massachusetts, 8 Oct 1793, the son of Peter Loring and Rachel Wilder; ^[6] died at Perry, Maine, 10 Feb 1871, aged 77y 4m, ^[7] and is buried there in the Loring Cemetery. ^[8] He had married (1) Nov 1818, Betsey's first cousin, Susan Christy Stickney, born, probably at Machias, Maine, 18 Jan 1801, the daughter of Jonathan Stickney and Wealthy Chase; died, probably at Perry, 5 Oct 1835. ^{[9] [10]}
