I have found no proof that Asa's wife's last name was Welch. I do know that Asa was married to a woman whose first name was Elizabeth and that Asa and Elizabeth had a son named Jonathan Anse Anderson who was married to a woman named Elizabeth Welch. This Elizabeth was 7 or 8 years older than Jonathan and is proven throughout their lives in the US Census Reports. I believe Asa's first name could well have been James because I searched all available marriage records in Georgia in 1811 or 1812 and found only one Anderson who married an Elizabeth and the male was listed as a James Anderson. Asa's second son was James Asa (Acey) Anderson and this is another reason why I think Asa's full name could have been James Asa Anderson and that is also why his son was called Acey.
