Biography

Hanna Adams, daughter of Hartford founder Jeremy Adams and Rebecca (Taylor) Adams, was perhaps born say 1639.[1]

Thomas Greenhill, half brother of Hannah Adams, was heir to his father's lands. His will dated 16 July 1653, names his heirs: his sister Rebeckah Shepherd, his mother, and "her Children, that is to say, to her son John Addams & to her 3 daughters, Hanna, Hester & Sarah,"[2]

Hannah married by about 1660, Jonathan Smith. John Winthrop mentions in his medical journal that he treated the wife of Jonathan Smith, who was Jeremy Adams' daughter.[3] A Jonathan Smith had been made a freeman 21 May 1657, but there is the possibility it is another Jonathan Smith.[4] They lived in Wethersfield.[5]

Hannah must have died shortly, because Jonathan married 1 Jan 1663/4 Martha Bushnell. Her father's estate does not mention her or any surviving children.[1]

Adams-10494 and Adams-1683 appear to represent the same person because: b. say 1639 in Anderson (Great migration) estimate. See bio for information on -10494

Middletown Upper Houses has Hannah Adams marrying Nathaniel Willett. Adams-1684 and Adams-10494 do not represent the same person because: they were siblings, according to Anderson's Great Migration. I added biographical source for Hannah showing that she married Jonathan Smith and not Nathaniel Willett.

Hi Pat, I think her first name should be Sarah, according to Anderson, Great Migration although I see Find a grave has her listed as Hannah, but Hannah had a different husband.
