John Asher was born April 6, 1770, in Culpeper County, Virginia, the son of William Amherst " Capt. Billy" Asher and Anna Bartlett.
On 21 Oct 1793, in Jefferson, Kentucky, John married Jane Curry (1776 -1861). [Note: His elder brother, Bartlett A. Asher, married Margaret Curry.]
Children of John and Jane are:
Charlotte Asher, born February 8, 1796, in Montgomery County, Kentucky, died June 20, 1828, in Owen County, Kentucky, married Henry Henderson Hancock (1792 - 1849)
Sarah A. "Sally" Asher, born April 5, 1799 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, died May 31, 1880 in Monroe County, Iowa, married name is also Hancock.
John Asher, born March 16, 1819, died April 2, 1850, married Lucy Jones McDade (1820 - 1905). John died February 4, 1835 and is buried in the Asher Cemetery, in Quincy, Owen County, Indiana
