Levi Bankston was born about 1779 in Wilkes County, Georgia.
Levi served in the 12th and 13th Consolidated regiments of the Louisiana Millitia as a private. He, his father John and brothers Henry and Howell Bankston served in the War of 1812 and were purportedly at the Battle of New Orleans in 1815.[1]
