Eliza's 80 acres were appraised at 00 which noone agreed to pay so a sale was ordered where Eliza paid 25 for the home and lands. Law Record Vol 97 p 280 (no copy yet) Deed Vol 108 p 251 (no copy yet) Obituaries: BARNHISEL, Eliza b. Stark Co, OH 13 AUG 1842 (sic), d near Shelby, OH 1 Jul 1895 aged 52y 10m. M. George FRANK some 25 years ago who died about two years ago. Married again on 14 May 1895 by Rev N. H. Loose to Adam Stephen (sic). Survived by husband, 4 daughters, mother, brother, and a sister. Service held by Rev N. H. Loose Sat 6 July 1895 Shelby (OH) Times
Stephan, Eliza Adm Peter Smith (Crestline, OH) Box a4109. Eliza's personal goods were appraised at 7.15 and were sold at auction for 6.31. This included 7 hives of bees. After Eliza's death, her children had to pay second husband Adam 0 for release of dower on the 80 acres and home. Amanda took out a mortgage for 0 to pay this. (Vol 59 p 618, June 20, 1901 no copy) Quit claim of Adam Stephan --Vol 23 p 513 (no copy) July 5 1901 Amanda FRANK then filed petition for partition in Probate court vs. Emma FRANK, Hattie Siegfried, Charles Seigfried, Catherine Stiving, and George STIVING July 22, 1901. The land was appraised at /acre for a total of 40. and an auction was ordered and held the 25th of Jan 1902. Charles Siegfried purchased the real estate for 70. Said sale was afterwards, to-wit, on the 4th day of March on hearing set aside by said court and a new sale ordered. An Alias Order of sale was issued. On the 5th April 1902, this real estate was sold to Anthony Sutter for 00. On April 17th 1902, Amanda paid off her mortgage. "The half-sisters don't come in for many tales, except Katie. Some were quite frugal. I don't know which but at least one had no appeal to the hungry Frank boys, and to reinforce she locked her cupboards when they were near."----Russell Frank
