Great! Let me know if you have any questions or need any help.

Always a good idea to do a search first before creating a new profile (if they were born before 1900). If you don't have a last name, note the info you do have in the BIO section of related profiles until you can find more info before making a profile. Also, estimate birth dates and locations if you need to, and note it is an estimate in the BIO section. A country is better than nothing!  :) Also, don't abbreviate locations if you can help it. We are an international site and BC may be British Columbia but someone from India might not know that. Oh, and source or list citations as you go, it may take longer to get things up but...

These are just a few tips I learned the hard way, so if it helps you out, all the better.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for joining WikiTree. As a WikiTree Mentor I am available to answer any questions or help solve any issues you may be having.

How To Use WikiTree is a good place to start. It is a step-by-step-guide to WikiTree basics. Our Forum is searchable or you can post a question there. The Help Index is also an important place to find how to do most tasks.

It is very important that no duplicate profiles are created in WikiTree. Please read this page for clues on avoiding profile duplication.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

First of all this is a great site and I have already received help with my tree and really made my day when I found how it all fit together. A lot of things were hard to prove and I had a lot of information in a book my father had been working on since 1970. With his passing I was the family member designated to keep the records of the family tree. I have my own book started now from reseaching sites on the computer. Thank you for your service as I will recommend this site to some of my friends who are wanting to find their ancestors.

Hi Steve! I'm just checking in with you to see how your experience is going on WikiTree. If you would like to enjoy the benefits of being a full member, leave a message letting us know and click the volunteer link. If you're just taking a look around that's OK too!

Have you checked to see if you already have family on WikiTree? You can search for a person or a surname on the search page.

Let me know if you have any questions!
