Capt. Richard Bartlett, 4th generation, born in Newbury Oct. 20, 1676. He was a husbandman, miller and cordwainer, and was called "gentleman" in his latter years. He lived in Newbury, and married, first, Margaret Woodman of Newbury April 12, 1699. She died April 6, 1718, aged
forty-one; and he married, second, Susannah, widow of Edmund Eastman of Salisbury, Dec. 8, 1720 ; and she was his wife in 1739. He died Feb. 10, 1749-50.

Richard Bartlett (3rd in lineage) , born in Newbury Feb. 21, 1648-9. He was a yeoman, currier and cordwainer, and lived in Newbury. He married Hannah Emery Nov. 18, 1673. She died May 1, 1705, aged fifty; and he died April 17, 1724, aged seventy- five.

church in Newbury, to which he
bequeathed twenty pounds; she d.,
his widow, in 1753, her will, dated
July 31, 1753, being proved Nov. 12,
1753; she also belonged to the Third
church in Newbury, to which she be-
queathed a silver tankard.
