I was born and raised in southern California. Though I travel constantly, I have never lived anywhere else. My family on both sides, at least the ones I've found, are almost entirely English, most of them immigrating to the US in the 17th/18th century. Once here, they lived all over from NY to the midwest, to the south, eventually joining up in California.
I am particularly interested in Montgomerys, Batsons, Carrolls and Carsons. I am also still trying to figure out whether my grandmother's claims that we're related to Kit Carson and Charles Carroll of Carrollton were wishful thinking or actual fact.
The photo in my profile is where the Batson family lived in Aldwincle, Northamptonshire, England in the 18th century. I was able to visit the town a few years ago.

I am trying to work on profile Unknown-287879 of which you are the profile Manager. I sent you a message back in Oct and still have not received a response. I would like to update this profile to include her surname which is Miles. Would it be possible to add me to the trusted list for this profile? Thank you

So we are both the profile managers of John Austin (as we've discussed when we did the merge). I just compared us on GedMatch and uh, we appear to have quite a few half-matches. But I know NOTHING about how GedMatch works or what to do with this information. LOL. Do you?

No, I just wanted to give you some relevant information for newcomers. I also wanted to welcome you into our WikiTree community and let you know that if you have any questions I am here to help!

Sounds good. Once your GEDCOM imports you'll probably just need to link yourself to the profiles that are created for your parents and you'll be set.
I'm Matty a WikiTree Mentor. Our primary vision is to build a collaborative tree with just one profile per person, so please make sure to look for duplicates on WikiTree before adding a profile. Please look at how to write a Biography and how to put Sources in.
Having dates and locations attached to every person assists in our mission as well - if you have pre-1700s ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.
Check out How To Use WikiTree. Its a great step-by-step guide.
And Im here to help too, just ask!

If you have any brick walls, collaboration might help bust through. Because WikiTree has only one profile for each person, the further back you go in your ancestry, the more likely cousins will find you and help out. ANY Wiki Genealogist can edit "Open" profiles (over 200 years old = open). There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: brickwall
The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.
