He was Moderator for the Town of Hanover, and also was a selectman from 1768 - 1771. He was connected to Joseph House in Shipbuilding.
He served in the Army in the Revolutionary War, Commanding 2nd Massachusetts Regiment of 23rd Continental Regiment Massachusetts Line. Engagements : Bunker Hill, Trenton, Princeton, Saratoga and Monmouth. [1] [2][3] [4] [5]
Towards the close of his life, he kept a Tavern.
He married Ruth Randall on October 18, 1750 in Pembroke Massachusetts.Bailey-11646 Their children Bailey-11646
Its noted that he enslaved a Black man (given to him along with real estate, by his father) named Dick that died January 20, 1786. Dick married Daphne, an enslaved woman of Colonel Barker that died March 10, 1779.
