Biography

Johann was born about 1741 in Germany. Johann Beck lived in Philadelphia Berksh, Rowan, North Carolina after marriage. [1] He passed away about 1817. [2]

Philip and Catherine lived in the western part of Davidson County near the Yadkin River. They appear to be the only branch of the Devault Beck family to occupy the Tyro/Churchland area. Philip's will, located in Rowan County Book G P. 473, names wife Catherine, sons: George, Henry, Adam, Dawalt, Philip, Jacob, Peter, John, daus: Caty Swicegood, Barbara Cope, and Peggy Gobble.
