DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
In the family's parish records, the minister spelled the family's surname 4 different ways himself: Boyer, Bayer, Beyer, Beier . He's the one to blame for these merging snarls! However, I believe Henry Boyer is the paternal grandfather, not John Jacob as "The American Boyers" earlier editions claimed. I just discovered a clue in a solider's diary from December 1775 to support it.
Beier-16 and Beyer-406 appear to represent the same person because: Their parents are similar, their birth dates are the same, and their child, David, is the same. It appears to just be a difference in the spelling of the last name. John Jacob Beyer is my 5th Great Grandfather. They also used the spelling Boyer.
