Biography

Elisha Bennett was born circa 1765, in Virginia and died circa 1835, in Guilford county, North Carolina. On January 1, 1812, in Greensboro, Guilford county, North Carolina, Elisha married Elizabeth Mary Coble, born circa 1770, in Orange county, North Carolina a daughter of Johannes Nicholas Cobel and Maria Barbara Staley, married February 17, 1755, in Lancaster county, Pennsylvania.

He was the uncle of Elisha Bennett son of William Bennett Sr. and in many family trees they (the two Elisha Bennetts) have been confused. This Elisha Bennett moved to, married, raised his family and died in N. Carolina, while his nephew Elisha moved from VA to Butler Co, KY by 1810 and lost his 1st wife Lucy Cason and remarried her niece "Betsy" Elizabeth Adcock in 1812 so he had an older and younger set of children. He remained the rest of his life (d: 1839) in Butler Co, KY.
