John Black was born in 1590 at Canongate, Edinburghshire, Scotland, son of John Black and Elizabeth Bessie Locart. He is referred to as "Sr." although many John Black's may have come before him. Subsequent John Black's were referred to as Primus, Secundus, Tertius, etc. John was baptized in Canongate, Midlothian, Scotland.
John married Janet Jobsone (per Edinburgh marriage record) who has subsequently been referred to as Janet Osborne or Osbourne. (I am not sure why.) The Edinburgh Marriage Register states: "(Black) John, cordiner; Janet Jobsone 9 July 1618."
He arrived in Ireland about 1619 as a colonizer in county Antrim.
The son of John and Janet has been referred to as John Black (Primus) and other John Black's followed in this Black line.
The Ulster Journal of Archaeology, noted below in sources, mentioned him briefly, at p. 186, as the first John Black known to John Black (Tertius) the author of a diary written in Bordeaux December 1754.
In the diary entry he discusses his enjoyment to hear of the birth of John Black the fifth, recently born in Bordeaux, France, which he described as being "in a lineal discent of the eldest son in our family originally from Scotland of those invited over thence by King James the first to Colonize Ulster in Ireland which had been laid waste and depopulated by the wars amongst the chiefs and their clans."
He passed away about 1653 in Belfast, at about the age of 63, if dates are correct. (It should be noted that there may be inconsistencies in how various family trees have recorded his information, some with or without source information provided.)

Black-3411 and Black-3184 are not ready to be merged because: Not able to merge with so many conflicting information. Documentation is needed to fully make a merge. It is not a benefit to WikiTree or genealogy to make an incorrect merge just based on who a person married. That's the problem with the world tree and Family search world tree as there is too much incorrect information. Once actual documentation has been found and correcting the difference in info listed in these two, then a merge may be acceptable. Unless Mr Fielder has documentation justifying a merge, it cannot happen. There are too many "John" Blacks in Scotland and Ireland during this period. 27Apr2018-DJB
