Biography

Anne was born in 1750.

  • Fact: Ann Blackburn Reynolds was the wife of John Francis Reynolds of Wilkes County, NORTH CAROLINA (DAR patriot A210119, he is listed as "Francis Reynolds," civil and patriotic service). Ann Blackburn Reynolds is thought to be the daughter of Ambrose Blackburn and Hannah Ashley but this needs further study.

She passed away in 1776.

  • Fact: Burial (1827) Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, DeKalb, Georgia, United States.

The will of Ann's husband, Francis Reynolds, was presented in court October 1803 (Will Book 2, pp 99-101). In it, he named his "beloved wife Anne" as one of the executors along with his brother Elisha Reynolds and James Welborn. He also mentions most of his children by name and his son-in-law Reuben Parks. Francis Reynolds's will specifically states the full name of "my youngest son Elzy Baker Reynolds." (See memorial for Elzy Baker Reynolds also found in Decatur Cemetery, Dekalb County, Georgia and two of his infant children.)

The children of Francis and Ann (Blackburn) Reynolds are thought to be:

  • Hannah (married Reuben Parks)
  • John Ashley Sr.
  • Ann (married James Patton)
  • Lois Elizabeth (married Isaac H Robinette)
  • William Elisha
  • Mary (married John McCord)
  • Sarah Evaline (married George Tomlinson)
  • Jenkins
  • Silas
  • Martha "Patsy" (married James Galbraith)
  • Elzy Baker
  • Nancy (married Samuel Sale).

The estate papers of Francis Reynolds indicate the estate was divided as called for in the will but there were problems especially with the inheritance of Patsy, which appear to have been resolved satisfactorily. One paper calls James Patton and Mary McCord to be a witness at court in Wilkes Co, North Carolina. At some point after the estate was settled, Ann (Blackburn) Reynolds moved to Georgia with her youngest son Elzy Baker Reynolds. His grave marker indicates that he served in the War of 1812 while still in North Carolina, joining from nearby Buncombe County, so it seems likely he and his mother Ann/Anne did not move to Georgia until after 1812. They were in Georgia by 1820, which is indicated by the Wilkes County, Georgia record of Elzy's first marriage to Susan Welborn.

Some of the GRANDCHILDREN and GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN are:

  • Aley C Reynolds Cox (Aley was the youngest daughter of Larkin C and Elizabeth Malin Reynolds. Larkin was son of John Ashley Reynolds Sr.)
  • Elzy Franklin Reynolds (Elzy Franklin was the youngest son of Larkin C and Elizabeth Malin Reynolds. Larkin C was the son of John Ashley Reynolds Sr.)
  • Larkin Reynolds (this Larkin was the son of William Elisha Reynolds. William Elisha was son of John Ashley Reynolds Sr.)
  • Nancy Jane Reynolds Absher (Nancy Jane was the daughter of William Elisha Reynolds. William Elisha was son of John Ashley Reynolds Sr.)
  • Sarah Sally Reynolds Eller (Sarah was the daughter of John Ashley Reynolds Sr.)
  • Clarissa H. Reynolds Brooks (Clarissa was the daughter of John Ashley Reynolds, Sr.)
  • Nancy Blackburn Reynolds Cothran (Nancy was the daughter of John Ashley Reynolds Sr.).

Blackburn-1434 and Blackburn-3251 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same dates, same name of husband.

Blackburn-1435 and Blackburn-1434 appear to represent the same person because: These are nearly identical except one died at the age of 1 - you have them married to the same man. If they're actually the same person, please merge the profiles.
