Biography

Elizabeth (Blee) Tonkin was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

Elizabeth Mary Blee, daughter of Edward Blee and Mary Julian, was born 29 Mar 1861 in Adelaide, South Australia. [1]

She married John Tonkin on 18 Jan 1890 at the residence of John Rowe Tonkin in Moonta Mines [2]

Elizabeth passed away 19 Nov 1942 in Broken Hill, New South Wales[3] and was buried in the Broken Hill Cemetery. [4]

The death occurred yesterday of Mrs. Eizabeth Mary Tonkin, of 630 Chapple street North Broken Hill, at the age of 81 years. Mrs. Tonkin was born in Adelaide, South Australia, but had been a resident of Broken Hill for about 54 years. She leaves a daughter, Mrs. W. Christophers. The funeral will take place today, leaving her late residenceat 3 pm for the Methodist Cemetery. The late Mrs. Tonkin will be burled In the same grave as her husband, the late John Tonkin, who died in July, 1935. Fred J. Potter and Son have charge of the funeral arrangements. [5]
