Levingston (or Livingston) was born 1769. He was the son of Spencer Bobo and Judith (Foster) Bobo. In largely unsourced genealogies, Levingston's wife is variously named as Elizabeth, Elizabeth Parker, and Elizabeth Barker daughter of Lewis Needham Barker (1750-1842) and Mary (Read) Barker (1754-1830). In 1800 Levingston is recorded on the federal census in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. [1] "Livingston" appears to have married only recently as his household is comprised of only he and his wife. In 1810, "Livinston" is recorded on the federal census in Union County, South Carolina. [2] His household now includes four children, two boys and two girls. By 1820, Levingston Bobo's houshold had grown to include 11 persons. [3] In addition to the 2 girls and 2 boys born between 1800 and 1810, there are two additional boys born in that period and 1 girl and 2 boys born between 1810 and 1820.
