Biography

Frances was born in 1799. She was the daughter of John Bollard and Hannah Johnson.

Frances was baptised in Lidlington on 21 July 1799.

She arrived in Sydney aboard the ship “PROVIDENCE” as a free settler on 7 January 1822 with her mother, brothers, and sister.

Frances married William Jude Fisher, a Constable, on 24 June 1822 in St. Phillips Church of England, Sydney.

In 1828, she was aged 29, living at Cobbitty with her husband William, 41, and children Maria, 5 and Joshua 3. They were living in the household of her parents John and Hannah Bollard. [1]

Hannah's husband, William Fisher died at Braidwood, on 21 September 1843, at the age of 50 years. He was the pound keeper in Braidwood at the time of his death. William was buried in the Braidwood Anglican Cemetery on 22 September 1843 by the Rev. James Allan.

Five months later Frances married Benjamin Walker on 13 February 1844, with the consent of the Governor, at St. Andrew's Church of England, Braidwood. Benjamin was a sawyer in the Braidwood district.

Again, her signature on the marriage certificate was marked with an “X”. Frances and Benjamin continued to live in Braidwood where, on 2 July 1860, Frances died of capillary bronchitis at the age of 61 years and was buried in the Braidwood Church of England Cemetery by the Rev. James Allan.

She passed away in 1860. [2]
