Biography

Marie Joseph Bourgeios was born about 1702. She was the daughter of Guillaume Bourgeois and Marguerite Mius. She married Joseph Thibaudault, son of Pierre Thibaudault and Anne Bourg, inhabitants of St Croix River at Pigiguit 26 Oct 1722 at Port Royal, Acadia. The bride and groom made their marks and Joseph Bourgeios and Claude Thibaudault signed.[1][2]

They appeared on the 1752 La Roque census at Rivière-du-Moulin-à-Scie, Isle Saint-Jean (now Prince Edward Island) with five sons and one daughter. [3]

She passed away before 18 August 1760.[4]

    Joseph Thibaudeau, ploughman, native of l'Acadie, aged 53 years, has been in this island 22 months. Married to Marie Joseph Bourgeois, native of l'Acadie,aged 50 years.
    They have six [five] sons and one daughter:-
    Olivier Thibaudeau, aged 23 years.
    Ustache, aged 20 years.
    Joseph, aged 18 years.
    Charles, aged 15 years.
    Firmain, aged 10 years.
    Roze, aged 8 years.
    Live stock: four oxen, one sow, and 5 pigs. The land upon which they are settled is situated as in the preceding case; and it was given to them verbally by Monsieur de Bonnaventure. They have made upon it a clearing of six arpents in extent.
