Biography

William Brouncker, son of Henry Brunker and his wife, Ursula Yate, was born about 1547 and was educated at Middle Temple. [1]Having succeeded his father in 1568 he married Martha Mildmay, daughter of Sir Walter Mildmay and his wife, Mary Walsingham by Licence dated 10 January 1569. Together they had a son and four daughters. [1]

William Brouncker esq. married Martha Myldmaye, daughter of Sir Walter Myldmaye knight by General Licence dated 10 Jan 1568/1569[2]. Presumably the marriage took place in London.

" The lease (to Canonfold) descended to Brouncker's son William in 1570." [3]

William first entered Parliament as MP for Westbury in 1572, was Sheriff of Wiltshire in 1580, and was knighted in 1592. [1][4]

He died on 27 March 1596, having written his will on 22 March, appointing his brother-in-law, Anthony Mildmay, as overseer. Inquisition Post Mortem Devizes 1596. [1]

In his will made on 22 Mar 1594/1595 and proved on 30 Oct 1596[5] he was recorded as Sir William Brouncker of Erlestoke, Wiltshire. He made bequests to his daughters Anne, Elizabeth and Grace, all to receive their bequests on the day of their marriage or when they accomplished the age of 21. He gave instructions to his son Henry regarding bequests to a number of servants. The residue of his goods he bequeathed to his wife Martha, whom he made his Executor. He appointed as Overseers; Anthony Mildmay, Nicholas Hawlswell, Thomas Jennyns esquier and Edwarde Longe gent.

Brouncker-7 and Brounker-6 appear to represent the same person because: when I merged the father, I found that these were duplicates.
