Biography

Sabina was Cherokee.

Sabina Buffington was born in Rusk County, TX in 1850. She was the daughter of Ellis Buffington and Elizabeth Starr, both Cherokee. By 1851 the family had returned to Indian Territory and was living in the Going Snake District where they are listed on the "Old Settler" roll. ^[1] Sabina married Rufus Adair about 1872. They were the parents of Mary Jane, Rufus, Jr. (died in infancy) George (died young), and Sabina. ^[2] She died at Sallisaw, Sequoyah District in 1881 and is buried at the Buffington Cemetery, Sequoyah County, OK. ^[3]
