Biography

Elizabeth Alice Cherry, daughter of James A. Cherry and Elizabeth Sheardown, was born on April 2, 1884 in Vaughan Township, Ontario, Canada.^[1][2][3] Her father was a farmer and they lived on Lot 32, Concession 9 in the Kleinburg/Nashville area of Vaughan Township.^[1] Her birth was attended by Dr. Robinson.^[1]

As of the date of the 1891 Census, Elizabeth was 7 years of age and living with her parents, her siblings (Mary, Sarah, Isabella L., Susan, and Emily), her uncle James Sheardown (47), two farm labourers, Ephraim Whealer (40) and George Allan (24), and a public school teacher, William Grant (18).^[4]

As of the date of the 1901 Census, Elizabeth, now known by her middle name, Alice, was living with her parents, her siblings (Isabella "Lillie", Susan, Emily and Bertha), and her uncle, James Sheardown.^[5]

As of the date of the 1911 Census, Alice, 27, was living with her parents and siblings (Isabella L., Susan, and Bertha), and two farm labourers, Henry Croft and Joseph Layman.^[6]

Alice died on June 23, 1946 and was buried with her family in Nashville Cemetery in Kleinburg, Ontario.^[2][3]
