John was born in 1923. His parents were George Coffman and Lucy (Bly) Coffman. [1]
His parents died in 1929.
In 1930 he and his twin brother were 7 years old and living with their uncle Russell Coffman in Virginia. [2]
John Curtis Coffman, and his twin brother, William Carson, were adopted by William and Mary (Connolly) Finnerty of Fayette County, Pennsylvania at age 12. They changed his surname to Finnerty.
His adoptive father died in 1838.
In 1940 he was 17 and living with his adoptive mother Mary, his brother and adoptive brother in Pennsylvania. [3]
He married Fannie Elizabeth Holliday in about Jun 1943. Her parents were Clark Holliday and Josephine (Harford) Holliday. [4]
