James was born on Vinalhaven in 1806, the son of Thomas Cooper and Barbara Douglass.[1] He married Lucy Webster on Vinalhaven in 1826.[2]They lived on North Haven. James worked as a ship carpenter.[3][4]
James died on North Haven in 1886. He is buried there in Fuller Cemetery.[5]
