Biography
I was born in the 1950s, in Pensacola, FL, US. My father was in the Navy and was stationed there at the time. Both my parents grew up in Neodesha, KS, a small town in south-eastern Kansas. I have one sister.
We lived in Urbana/Champagne, IL for 3 years. I went to grades K-2 there.
We then moved to Long Beach, CA. I grew up there and graduated from Millikan High School with honors in 1972.
I have one daughter, born in Los Angeles, CA, by previous wife.
She married and gave me 2 grandchildren.
I married my wife in Garden Grove, CA. We added granddaughter to our family and have been raising her since.
In September 2016, the three of us moved to the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan with our 3 cats and dog, and subsequently bought a house here. We are loving the change of surroundings!
I first got involved with genealogy when I was 17, on a family trip to visit my grandparents in Neodesha, Kansas. There, the town librarian introduced me to genealogy and gave me paper forms to fill out. I interviewed townspeople and relatives who knew my ancestors, and was given documents (mostly on my dads side, where some detailed records were kept).
I did little more for many years until I received the results of my 23andMe DNA test. 23andMe offered a free link to MyHeritage.com and I got back into genealogy filling the branches of my tree there. In research, I found WikiTree and was inspired by its mission to create "One World Tree". Because of this, and a desire to leave my grandchildren with their heritage (and to develop my wife's tree), I have also developed trees for families that I am not biologically related to. These include: families of my wife Winters-1634 (Winters - Auflick), my granddaughter by marriage Harbaugh-303 (who lives with my wife & I ) (Harbaugh - Winters - Cellini - Inouye), my daughter Creamer-350 (her mother's side Anderson-26685 - Anderson - Sutton) & son-in-law Stewart-19814 (father of my biological grandchildren Stewart-19813 & Stewart-19815) (Stewart - Polk). Also, since my sister-in-law was married to a childhood friend Young-24527, I developed some of his family tree here as well (Young - Lacher).

Kent, These are from my notes on the Heyderich Family from Germany, Heidelberg area, (1967-1972). On Margarethen Kuehrhirten , I have found no such Last Name. The Kuhhirten is a place name, meaning Cowpath, such as Kuhhirten, Bremen, Grermany. Kuhhirten, Singular, Masculine, Genitive. Now on where I got this information. It came from a Family Bible predating her birth. It was in a custom made wooden box, when opened held the pages for reading, & it was a Schaeffer Bible. The information was Translated and Copied for me, by the family. On Margaretha/Margarethen, her name is Anna Margaretha Anders Faust. Born 1617, Thal-Lichtenberg, Died 1667 Ulmet, Kusel. Her father was , Herbert Anders Faust Born 1592, Koln, Died in Thal-Lichtenberg. Her mother Anna Appoloina Weber, Born abt. 1592, Died 20 Jan 1674, Thal-Lichtenberg. The family was always Faust or Faus, they Spelled it Faust but did not pronounce the "T".
Hi cousin Matthew! Thank you for your message, and sorry for taking so long to respond. Yes, I had already discussed with WikiTree staff the criteria for clicking the "confirmed with DNA button" on a profile. I am also well aware that such weak matches do not definitively prove a genetic relation.
However, the WikiTree staff also approved me documenting such matches. (Consider them as "supporting evidence", rather than proof). I consider it important to include such evidence to help lay a groundwork for triangulation, or stronger evidence in the future. I'm sure there are others who might say "Why bother with anything under 7 cM?". I have found enough cases where such small matches prove to be part of a larger match with a closer relative to be worthwhile. (I don't bother with anything under 5 cM).
But, I have no objection to your "Needs Triagulation" note.
North Carolina is where I have the most ancestors. However, to be honest I really don't have any time to devote to this group at present. My wife and I are baby-sitting a toddler most of the week, week-ends are off limits to me, and in the small amount of time I have left, I am working on a project with another WikiTree member on a common branch of our families. My on-going project to document DNA matches along with many other personal family tree projects are being temporarily put on hold. These projects will undoubtedly keep me busy for many years in the future. Thank you.
On behalf of the Germany Project, I am currently undergoing our member check-in's and wanted to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Sub-projects or Teams? We have many new teams so have a look on the Germany project page for the full list. I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!
We use Google groups for project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup, please submit a join request and we will get that approved as quickly as possible. We also ask that you check your follwed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (GERMANY) so you don't miss any disucssions in G2G.
We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions please ask. I would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project!
Please respond by private message. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Hi Kent, I have added you to the US Southern Colonies Province of Carolina team page. Drop by there to to read the few goals I have added and you can add a bit about your ancestors next to your name. Do not hesitate to ask questions of me. If I do not know the answer, I will find it for you. Thanks for joining and we can roll up our sleeves for a lot of work..
You are added to the Google group also.
Mary Richardson, US Southern Colonies Province of Carolina Team Leader
As you may have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.
Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.
Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins. We’re really excited for the future of the project and hope that you decide to be a part of it with us moving forwards.
Hi Susie, I'm sorry that I have been too busy elsewhere to pay any attention to the Southern Colonies project. I have lots of ancestors from North Carolina and some from South Carolina.
Thank you so much for responding to our check-in. We are delighted that you wish to continue contributing to the Southern Pioneers. Below is a quick checklist for active members. The project leaders would like you to make sure you have done the following:
I just gotta say, I love all the photos here, but find the one of you and your grandkids most endearing! Thank you for allowing me to collaborate on several profiles in which we have a shared interest.
The contributions that I have made to the Southern Colonies has centered on ancestors and their families that settled in primarily North and South Carolina. I apologize that I have neglected to label most of these as belonging to the Southern Colonies.
In the months of May and April, this has primarily involved the Hedrick/Heydrich and Waggoner/Wagner families in North Carolina. This work has been interrupted after receiving a message from a genetic relative who was adopted, seeking help in finding their roots. I have determined that by the maiden name of the birth mother, as well as the gene segment we share, that they share ancestry in the Welch and possible Long/Lang branches of my family. These two families also have roots in North Carolina, although I have primarily been focusing on their later descendants, who had settled in Illinois, to assist my adopted cousin in finding their origins.
On behalf of the US Southern Colonies Project leaders, I am doing a six-month check-in with members to see what aspects of the project interest them most.
1) We would like to learn the number of contributions you have made in the last two months (May and April) to Southern Colonies?
2) We would like to know if you have joined other Southern Colonies Subprojects, such as Southern Pioneers Project. Or have you worked on other subprojects?
Wish you a Happy New Year. May 2018 bring you all you need to be happy.
Congratulation for adding your contributions in December. Whatever the quantity of your contributions, they all count. As we always say "Quality is better than quantity" to make a great family tree.
Hello, just a word (late) to congratulate you on the contributions you made during the month of November. Whatever the quantity, they are all important.
Thanks for your note on Hans Georg Hägi. I can't take much credit for it, though. Elizabeth Harris had notes on his name spelling, etc. She just cleared up some of the questions which allowed the merges to go through. I love collaboration. :-)
I just sent in the Ancestry autosomal test for my maternal grandfather a couple of weeks ago. He should match you and your dad a bit closer than I if your theory about our MRCA is correct. I’ll keep you posted, I’ll be uploading his results to GEDmatch as soon as I get them.
Regards, Matt

I see that you posted some information regarding our DNA results on the page for my great-grandmother: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wagers-120
Since we are such distant relatives, triangulation is required to DNA confirm our shared ancestors. More info: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Triangulation
I edited my great-grandmother's page to indicate that our relationship required triangulation to provide confirmation.
I have my autosomal results uploaded to MyHeritage so it may be possible to triangulate our results there.
Just wanted to let you know. :)
Regards, Kent

You are added to the Google group also.

Many thanks,
Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader

Thanks for confirming a Gedmatch between us and determining which ancestor it was!
I only just noticed your edit on a profile I'm trying to do some work on (Rodmell-1)
Kind regards from your 7th cousin, Raewyn.
Thank you so much for responding to our check-in. We are delighted that you wish to continue contributing to the Southern Pioneers. Below is a quick checklist for active members. The project leaders would like you to make sure you have done the following:
1) Checked the Southern Pioneers Project for ways to contribute.
2) Added Southern_Colonies TAG to the tags you follow.
3) PM'ed the project leaders with your email address to be added to the Southern Pioneers Google group..
Please try Southern Pioneer Stickerson profiles to show your roots.
Thank you!

3) Your activity in Southern Pioneers Project.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Here are some tips for avoiding duplicates. WikiTree is a one world wide tree with only one profile per person.
