Biography

Important Note: Edward Corder Jr. was the son of Edward Corder Sr. and an undentified wife. John Corder (who married Elizabeth Branson, not Mary Sloat) is the only other identified child of Edward Corder Sr. and the only known brother of Edward Corder Jr. (who married Susannah Oney, not Mary Wallace).

The Ann/Alice linked as a mother of Edward Corder Jr. (above) is incorrect. Ann/Alice belongs to the Fauquier County Corders, who were a different branch of the Corder family. Please do not use Ann/Alice in your trees as this information is incorrect.

A note about Susannah Oney, wife of Edward Corder Jr. (II)

There are a number of trees online and on Ancestry.com which refer to the wife of Edward Corder Jr. as "Susannah Mary Wallace." Edward Corder's wife was Susannah Oney, daughter of Benjamin Oney and Jemima Soper (records of whose family can be found scattered from Frederick County VA to Russell County VA). In a March 1767 Frederick Co VA land record, Edward Corder's wife is clearly referred to within the text of the deed as "Susannah" but at the end of the deed, Edward and his wife "Mary" make their marks. Susannah had a sister, Mary Oney, but that Mary married William Webb in Frederick Co VA. I am not sure why the deed calls Edward's wife Susannah in one place and Mary in another, nevertheless, Benjamin Oney's will names Edward Corder as one of his sons-in-law, and DNA testing has returned an overwhelming number of autosomal DNA matches between descendants of the Corder and Oney families, so Susannah Corder was an Oney, not a Wallace.

A note about the date of death for Edward Corder Jr. (II)

Identifiable records can be found referencing this Edward Corder until 1808 (by which time he had become "senior" and his son, Edward III was "junior").

In 1820 there is an "Edward Corder S" (Sr?) living in Wayne County KY about 26 houses down from Stephen Corder, but it isn't clear whether he is Edward II or Edward III. Edward Jr. (II) may be the elderly male in the household of Richard Corder in Claiborne County TN in 1830. While it is always possible that Edward II died in Burke's Garden (Tazewell Co VA) prior to his children migrating down into KY and TN during the first decade of the 19th century, it is generally believed that he left Tazewell County with them.

Angelique, this may well be the same man as Corder-367, but at present neither of the profiles have any sources to back this up. And the wife for this profile has been removed.

This profile needs evidence! Best wishes. Jo

Corder-367 and Corder-94 appear to represent the same person because: The death dates are the same, they are married to the same woman. The reason the birthdates are different is because his birth isn’t known for sure.
Corder-95 and Corder-417 do not represent the same person because: They have different birth & death dates & places. They have different wives. They have different mothers, also (from my other research.)
Corder-95 and Corder-417 appear to represent the same person because: Hi. These two Corder profiles represent the same person. Please approve a merge.
