Biography

Martha Corwin was the daughter of Mattias Corwin and Margaret Shatswell.

According to her father's biography in "The Great Migration" series, Martha was born around 1638. She married first Henry Case, the last week of November in 1658 in Southold. She married second Thomas Hutchinson on 11 Jan 1665/66 in Southold. [1]

On Dec 5, 1655 Mathias Corwin mentions “Henry Case , deceased” Southold town records volume 1, pages 25 - 28

Henry Case died before 16 November 1665 when his widow Martha was empowered to take administration of the estate of "my first husband Henry Case." She was named sole executix of the estate of her second husband Thomas Hutchinson by the court in Southampton March 7-9, 1676. [1]

She appears on the 1698 census:

Corwin-185 and Corwin-4 appear to represent the same person because: these two profiles represent the same person. Mathias Corwin/Cuwin has a bio in the Great Migration Begins and Anderson has his daughter Martha married to both Case and Hutchinson. please merge, thanks
Your observations are correct, in that Margaret Shatswell is the "only" wife of Matthias and the mother of all his children. Would have been impossible to marry Margaret Morton in 1625 in Livingston, NY (as noted on Corwin-12) since he did not arrive from England to Mass until 1632. The chancellory suit naming Margaret Shatswell as his wife was filed in 1627 in England. Martha married Henry Case first and when he died she remarried to Thomas Hutchinson.

per findagrave (and the bio given at Corwin-185)Martha married both Henry Case and Thomas Hutchinson. The thing that needs to be cleared up before Corwin-4 and -185 can be merged is who her mother was. I think Matthias was married only to Margaret Shatswell who was the mother of all of his children. (See my comment on his page, Corwin-12.)

Does anybody have anything definite?
