Jean was thought to have been born in 1676[1]The younger Jean must have been born before the 1678 census[2], though he isn't listed.

In 1686, at Port Royal, Jean, aged 10, was living with his stepfather, Jean FARDEL, aged 46, and his mother, Marie Godet [sic], aged 36, and his six siblings: Bernard, aged 16, Louis, aged 13, Olivier, aged 12, Marie, aged 9, Anne, aged 7, and Pierre, aged 5. The family owned 1 gun and was living on 5 arpents of cultivable land with 13 cattle, 9 sheep and 8 hogs.[3]

Both he and his brother Louis disappeared after the 1700 census together with their mother and stepfather, and the rest of the family[1] even though she died in Port Royal in 1734, a widow.
