Biography

Based on her marriage date, Elizabeth Dale was born about 1525.^[1] She was the daughter of Mathew Dale of Bristol and the City of London, a wealthy haberdasher.^[2][3] (Mathew wrote his Will on 20 July 1549 and signed and sealed it on 4 April 1550. In it he mentioned sons Henry, James, John, and Matthew; son and heir William; daughter Mary Marler; my cousin Robert Dale; Henry Wyott, my sister’s son; sons in law Walter Marler and Gregory Isham, and to each of their wives I give a black gown; my cousin Elizabeth Dale, my brother William’s daughter a black gown; Roger Dale my cousin.^[4])

Elizabeth married, first, Gregory Isham, on 16 Dec 1548 at Saint Pancras Soper Lane, London, London, England.^[1][2][5] He was born about 1520 and died 4 Sept 1558. Elizabeth and Gregory had 4 children:^[3]

After her first husband's death, Elizabeth Dale married, 25 June 1562 at St. Michael, Paternoster Royal, London, Middlesex, England^[7], William Rosewell of Ford Abbey who later became the Solicitor-General to Queen Elizabeth. ^[3] William and Elizabeth had three children:^[8]
