He married Ada Haggard on 20 December 1873 in Queensland, Australia. [1] After initially living in Nambour, on Queensland's Sunshine Coast hinterland, they moved to Beaudesert, in Queensland's Scenic Rim region, in the early 1880s.
A widower for fourteen years, Joseph died, aged 78 years, on 26 March 1924 at Beaudesert, Queensland. [2]

MR.DELPRATT
One of Queensland's pioneer colonists, Mr. Joseph Henry Delpratt. died March 26 at his residence. Tambourine House. Broomfleet, Canungra line. Prominently identified 'with the pastoral industry and celebrated as a breeder of draught horses, the.name of Mr. Delpratt was' widely known, in the State. At many of the Queensland national shows he was judge of horses, and some years ago he was appointed, a life member of the National Association. In municipal politics deceased was also represented being a member of the Tambourine Shire Council for over a quarter of a century, and for seven successive years he was chairman. For some time Mr. Delpratt was chairman of directors of-the Beaudesert Butter Factory.br/>
Being a typical English gentleman, and having resided in the State for so many years, deceased made a host of friends, all of whom will deeply regret his demise.
The late Mr. Delpratt was born on the Island of Jersey, in the English Channel, on December 10, 1845, being the son of the late Joseph .Delpratt, who was prominent in London business clrcles, and was a descendant of the Huegenots. Mr. Delpratt, after receiving his primary education in numerous schools, completed his scholastic career at King's College, London, and, at the age of 17 years, took-fortune in hand, and sailed for Australia, where he settled in the capacity of a "jackeroo" on' the Beaudesert station in the Logan and Albert district. Cattle country experience having been, gained, Mr. Delpratt returned to England, and was gazetted as a lieutenant in the 2nd West India Regiment. In 1870, however, abandoning the idea of military service, he returned to Australia, and, shortly afterwards, purchased the Tambourine station, and took his place in the ranks of-the early pastoralists of the colony.
In 1874. Mr. Delpratt married Ada Stewart, a daughter of tho late Henry Haggard, journalist and man of letters. There was a family of eight sons and five daughters.[3]
He was buried in the Mundoolan Anglican Church Cemetery, Mundoolun, Queensland, Australia. [4] [5]
