Huston Elliott enlisted on October 24, 1861 at Falmouth, Kentucky, in Company D, 18th Regiment, Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, for three years of service.
Marjorie Notes: Huston's military papers and his military tombstone spells his name as "Houston". His personal tombstone, undoubtedly picked out by relatives, says "Huston". An affidavit in his papers states that the correct spelling is "Huston".

Marjorie Stith Jones Notes: Elliott Huston was born 05 February 1836. He married twice, first to Mary Middleton who died in 1886 and second to Elizabeth "Lizzie" Clark on 26 January 1892. Elliott was disabled due to being kicked by a mule and being stabbed in the eye. Elliott was the brother of Hanson & Mary Elizabeth Elliott, brother-in-law of Alfred Mileham. "Wife's affidavit states: "Surname is spelled with two "t's". [1]
