In addition to my curiosity about my family tree, I have several questions I hope to find answers to.
My paternal grandmothers maiden name was Gowen. I recall my great grandmother (Gowen) cherishing a set of military Captains bars. To whom in my family tree did these bars belong?
My paternal grandfather was put up for adoption when he was very young. According to family, he was around 5 years old. Why was he put in the orphanage? Who were his parents? Where did they go? What type of work did they do? Where were they from?
My paternal grandfather built a three story house in the 1940’s by himself. Being a structural engineer, I have much respect for the difficulty of this task even with today’s technology. Where did he learn these skills?
