John Foust Patriotic Service Description: Private in the Continental Line, North Carolina Militia, Hillsboro District. Also he furnished material aid to the patriots.

Johannes Faust was baptized on 27.09.1719 in Langenselbold. His parents were Johann Peter Faust and Anna Elisabeth.[1][2]

Johannes (John) Faust was born in Langenselbold, Germany and came with his parents to America in 1733 - age 11 years. In Berks County, Pa., he married Barbara Albrecht, who came to America from Germany on Sept. 18, 1732. Barbara was the sister of Phillip Faust's wife. Phillip was Johannes' brother. Johannes and Barbara lived in Berks County until they moved with their family to North Carolina in 1765. At that time a great number of Pennsylvania Germans migrated from Pa. to the new "Moravian" settlements of North Carolina (Moravian Records of North Carolina). Johannes and his family became very prominent. There is a town by the name of Faust in northwestern N.C.

Johannes died in 1789 and is buried in Stoners Church Cemetery in Bellemont, Alamance County, North Carolina. Barbara was born Oct 10, 1719, in Germany. It may well be they knew each other in Germany. She died in North Carolina on March 1, 1802. The church record says of her: "The Widow Faust, named Barbara, a born Albrecht, died March 1, 1802, age 82, four month-, and several weeks. She lived in widowhood 12 years and near 3 month-. In her married estate, she had 10 children, 75 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren."

The children of Johannes Faust and Barbara Albrecht are:

Philip Faust (1742-1804)
John Faust (1744-?)
Jacob Faust (1749-1796)
Christian Faust (1750-1823)
Barbara Faust (1752-?)
Judith Faust (1754-1823)
George Faust (1756-1778)
Peter Faust (1759-1808)
Daniel Faust (1762-1826)

His father, Johannes, is remarkable because he is the progenitor of all the Fausts/Fousts in the south except those in South Carolina.
