Disputed origins

Alleged parents John Freeman and Priscilla Angell did not mention any daughters in their wills. Anderson lists her as "maiden name unknown." Parents have been disconnected, name has been changed to Unknown.

Biography

According to Robert Charles Anderson, John married by about 1632, to Susannah, maiden name unknown.[1] They had one known child, a daughter named Abigail Compton, born say 1632.[1] She married as her first, 1) Joseph Brisco, and as her second, 2) Abraham Busby.[1]

25 Feb 1642/3, "Susan the wife of our brother John Compton" was admitted to Boston church.[1]

Children of John and Susannah:

  1. Abigail b c. 1632; mar 1) Joseph Brisco 2) Abraham Busby[1]

12 Jan 1671, the widow Compton and her daughter Busby were present and consenting, when Abraham Busby gave Benjamin Gilham Sr possession of a house and ground formerly lived in by John Compton.[1]

Susannah Compton's undated will was proved 12 Nov 1664. The "widow of the long since departed John Compton" gave her entire estate to her "little grandchild, Joseph Brisco. In the settlement, it was decided to give half the estate to Abraham Busby for "bringing up" Joseph, the other half would be given to Joseph at age 21.[1] An inventory was valued at £16 16s.[1][2]
