Biography

Mary (Furbank) Hitchcock was born in Essex, England.

Mary Furbank was born abt. 1780 in Althorne, Essex. ^[1]. She would have been christened at or near Althorne, Essex, England however these years are missing from the Althorne register. ^[2] Althorne registers supposedly began 1734 but only from 1800 actually are available at the Essex County Archives (SEAX). She is no doubt a relative of Oliver Furbank of Althorne who was church clerk there for many years prior to his death in 1821. Further indication of this relationship is that Mary's third born was named Oliver.
