Amand was born about 1805. He was the son of Firmin Gallant and Madeleine Poirier. He passed away between 1856 and 1891, when the Canadian census shows wife as a widow.
Firmin (dit Paneau) was born about 1758. He first married Madeleine Poirier, the daughter of Jean Baptiste Poirier about 1780, probably in Malpec.
Firmin and his family was one of the first settlers in the Mont-Carmel area.
Firmin and Madeleine had nine children: Joseph, Pierre, Cyprien, Amand Laurent, Firmin, Juliette, Marie, and Sophie[1]
