Elizabeth first married John Grant. They are the parents of William, Peter, Finley, Laurence and John Grant. It is believed the family emigrated from New York, traveling to the province along with other loyalists from the King’s American Regiment.
The husband of Elizabeth Grant is said to have belonged to Capt. Peter Clements’ Company, but it is uncertain if her husband served in this regiment or that she had been mustered into that company as a widow. In any event, it is apparent that her husband had died prior to her journey north. The name that has been proposed for William’s father is John Grant, but no evidence has yet been discovered to confirm this. There was a Corporal John Grant who was reported sick in a New York hospital in 1781, may have died the following year. This makes him a candidate as the husband of our widow.
The "Widow Grant" (given name Elizabeth) married John Cronkhite in New Brunswick on September 23, 1784 (no official record). Of this union, six children were born: Henry, Abraham, Mary, Simon, Jabez Lockwood and Reuben.
Went to New Brunswick at the end of the Revolutionary War with Captain Clements Co of the KAR , same Regiment as Henry Cronkite. Regiment given block #6, Woodstock to Shogamoc, with 5 boys. Later married Henry Cronkite i.e. Noted as "wife pregnant" in Muster Roll of the KAR, Lr. Woodstock, August 5, 1785.
Peter Grant, from NYS, said that his father died at the end of the war. Muster role of Sept. 2, 17

The so called Widow Grant was my gggg grandmother. I am trying to solve the mystery of her dead husband. Penuel-1 cannot be the widow grant of Peter, William, Finley and Lawrence, there was another son John. Also being born in 1727 would make her 57 years old when she married Henry Cronkhite only to have several more children with him.
Same spouse Archibald. Same death date and place.
