Biography

Zella was born in 1899, the daughter of John Webster and Martha Killion. Her mother married Granville Ellsworth Gray in 1901. ^[1]

Zella married Arhur Cannon on the 22nd of July, 1922 in Greene County, Arkansas using the name "Miss Zellie M. Webster". Zella was 22 years old and Arthur was 21. ^{[2] [3]} In 1930,^[4] the young family was living in Delaplaine, Greene County, Arkansas where Adrian was working as a section hand for the railroad. They were renting their home for $4 a month. They had been married for 8 years and had 2 daughters and 2 sons:

• Adrian (5) - born 1925 in Arkansas
• Edith (3) - born 1927 in Arkansas
• Edward L. (1) - born 1929 in Arkansas

Adrian's brother Verne and his family were recorded as living in the house next door. Verne was also working on the railroad,

The family is living in the same home at the time of the 1940 Census.^[5] Zella is 40 and Adrian is 39 years old. He is still a section hand for the railword, and has worked 52 weeks in 1939, earning $800. The census recorded that Adrian and Zella both finished the 6th grade. Adrian (15), Edith (13), and Edward (9) have 2 new sisters - Enid Marie (9) who was born in 1931 and Essie Mae (7) who was born in 1933. Edna married Johnie Taylor in 1939.^[6] Adrian's brother Verne and his family are still living in the house next door.

Arthur worked 60 hours as a section hand on the railroad the week before the 1950 Census was taken.^[7] Adrian married Hazel Arnold in 1946^[8] and Edith married Olen Danley in 1947.^[9] Edward is now 21, Enid is 19 and Essie is 17. They have a baby sister, Anna J., who is 9 years old.

Zella May died the 14th of February, 1967. The cause of death was mycardial infarction. She was 67 years old.^[10] She was buried in the Greene County Memorial Gardens in Paragould, Greene County, Arkansas. ^[11]
