Rhodam M. Griggs was born about 1810 in Georgia, USA. Rhodam was a farmer.
Rhodam appears in the 1850 Federal Census for Division 11, Carroll County, Georgia at 40 years of age and apparently a widower. The value of the real estate he owned was recorded at $500. Included in the household with him are his children: Sarah (age 17), Susan (15), Benjamin (13), Lucy (11), Epsey (8), Milly (6), Linah (4) and Rhodam (2). (Note that Linah and Rhodam are recorded on the next page of the record after the other family members.) All the children as well as Rhodam are recorded as having been born in Georgia. None of the children is marked as attending school. Rhodam is *not* marked as being illiterate. Note that all the children other than Benjamin and Rhodam are girls. Also, the ages recorded for at least Lucy, and possibly other of the children, conflict with those found in other sources. This record was taken 5 August 1850.
