WALTER HAInes was born Abt. 1582 in Renhold, Bedfordshire, England and died January 26, 1631/32 in Renhold, Bedfordshire, England (Source: Edited by F. G. Emmison, LDS Film # 0599352, (Bedfordshire, Parish Registers, 1602-1812).

He married MARY WATFORD April 27, 1607 in Renhold, Bedfordshire, England (Source: Edited by F. G. Emmison, LDS Film # 0599352, (Bedfordshire, Parish Registers, 1602-1812). She was born Abt. 1586 in Renhold, Bedfordshire, England , and died June 19, 1632 in Renhold, Bedfordshire, England (Source: Edited by F. G. Emmison, LDS Film # 0599352, (Bedfordshire, Parish Registers, 1602-1812).

Little is known of Walter Haines' life in Bedfordshire, England. The area where he resided was considered to be a market-gardening trading area and it is assumed that he engaged in farming.

A transcribed copy (transcription by Claire Sawyer, Archivist, Bedfordshire and Luton Archives and Records Service, February 2000) of his will is presented below, but it creates a mystery because his youngest son William Haynes was not included and it would not be easy to pinpoint what may have occurred for William to be omitted from the will.

Renhold Parish Registers, F.G. Emmision, volume 5; researched at the Bedford Record Office in 1984 indicated a baptism for William and Robert sons of Walter Hains on the 6th June 1624. This would imply twin brothers OR they were one and the same person as William Robert Hains OR merely two brothers of different ages baptized on the same day. These speculations do not answer why his father referred to him as Robert in the will or why he was listed as William on the ship's passenger list and subsequent records in America. The same Renhold Parish Register, F. G. Emmison, volume 5 listed a baptism for his older brother, Richard son of Walter Hains on 18th November 1621. Richard and William emigrated together in 1634 on the ship "Griffin".

The confirmation of William's parentage remains open. The findings to date do strongly indicate that William was the son of Walter and Mary Watford Haines and the brother of Richard Haines. Richard married a widow and this marriage produced no children. His will dated 1681 left his personal belongings to his nephew, Thomas Haines, son of William.

The International Genealogical Index (IGI) is a database of genealogical records, compiled from several sources, and maintained by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Originally created in 1969, the index was intended to help track the performance of temple ordinances for the deceased.

The IGI contains information submitted for vicarious ordinances by LDS researchers, records obtained from contributors who are not members of the church, and data extracted from microfilmed birth or marriage records. The index contains millions of records of individuals who lived between 1500 and 1900, primarily in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

The IGI contains many duplicate names, accumulated over time from many sources. Many IGI records contain information on the submitter and date of submission. The IGI is available at FamilySearch, the LDS genealogy website. Repository: Name: FHL (Family History Library) 35 North West Temple Street Salt Lake City, UT 84150-3400 U. S. A. All legitimate research indicates that Water Haines, husband of Mary Watford and father of William and Richard Haines who emigrated to America on the ship “Griffin”, was born in Renhold, Bedfordshire, England of unknown parents. I have been researching members of the Haines family from Bedfordshire, England, from whom I am a direct descendant, for thirty years. I have never read any plausible research that refutes this finding. James F. Haynes, Ph.D.

Above has: Son of Robert (Haynes) Haines [uncertain] and Agnes (Etaine) Haynes [uncertain].

However, the Biography of Mary Watford-12 has: Mary married Walter Haynes (1583-1664) on 27 Apr 1607 in Renhold, Bedfordshire, England. Walter is the son of John Haynes (1550-1654) and Alice (Lambert) Haynes (1550-1623). [1] Died 19 June or July 1632, Renhold, Bedfordshire, England.

Was John Haynes the father of the Walter Haynes', who married Mary Watford? And did the Walter Haynes, who married Mary Watford, live to C: 1664, instead of dying C: 1633?

The Walter Haynes, who was the son of John Haynes and Alice Lambert was married to Elizabeth Gourd. The children listed for Walter and Elizabeth Gourd are of different names than those of Walter and

Mary Watford. Also check out (https://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/haynes/4521/).

Please review Haynes-490 and Haines-90, but DO NOT MERGE. One is attached to the wrong parents. Thanks.
