Biography

Robert (Hannah) Hanna Sr served with Ninety-Six District Regiment, South Carolina Militia during the American Revolution.

Robert Hanna was born on December 10, 1744, in prince Edward co., virginia.[1]He was the son of John Hannah and Mary Ervin.
He married Mary Catherine Parks in 1766.[2] Chrilden.

A soldier of the American Revolution, He fought from S.C. to Vermont. In battle of Cowpens, which was fought on his Uncle Joseph Hanna's plantation. Also at Bennington and King's Mt.[1]
He went west to Franklin co., Indiana. He was on his farm in Franklin co., in 1820.[3]
He died on January 24, 1821, in Brookville, Franklin County, Indiana,[4] at the age of 76 years, and was buried in Liberty, Union County, Indiana, in the Simms Cemetery.[1]

Burial

  • The tombstone of Robert Hanna as it appeared c.1964 in Sims Cemetery, Union Co, IN. In the early 1970's, the cemetery and surrounding area were flooded to create the Brookville Reservoir/Lake, and the tombstones were moved to New Fairfield Cemetery in adjacent Franklin Co, IN.
