She is on the 1940 US Census with her father Frank, and Mother Gwendolene Thornton.

My Genealogy interest started with researching in 1970 by collecting information from every family member I met. In the early 1990's I started documenting all the information. After seeing an original 1930 Chicago US Census that a cousin had in her possession, it really brought forth many questions and a need to keep searching this Mystery puzzle of Genealogy. while researching my husband's Holthoefer family in 2013, I met other cousins of the Holthoefer family, and we co-authored the book "Holthoefer Family History" which we then published in September 2015. Robert J. Yagley was main author and did all work of putting the book together and getting it in print.
Now in the beginning of 2018, at age 80, I decided to to do my "Thornton Family history". I decided what better place for it to be than on WikiTree, where it would be free to anyone, collaborated, corrected if needed and hopefully enjoyed.

The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing a check-in. The Project operates in a team structure with these participant PIP Teams -- The Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and three Biography Teams. There is also the Voyage Team which guides new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team.
You're currently identified as a member of the Biography Team, working on profiles from your watchlist and other profiles that interest you. The other two Biography Teams work on Abandoned and Popular profiles from the provided lists. Please let us know if you are content with your current Team or would like to change to one of the others.
If you have not already done so, we invite you to join the email GoogleGroup. We use the WikiTree Discord server #profile-improvement channel for our project. Neither is required; we also use the Profile_Improvement tag in G2G for Project announcements.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project meet its goals. We would like to hear about the successes you’ve had and would also appreciate any feedback you have to help improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or via private message to one of us.
As a member of the Biography team , I first worked on my own trees, then have worked the last year on the Dyer tree- dyermaeettaavg 2010. ged on 11 September 2010, until it was taken off. I am currently working on some of them from the suggestion list.
Thanks for letting us know, Helen, and for all the GEDCOM cleanup work you are doing. We really appreciate it and the tree is so much better for it. Debi
Hi Helen!!Thank you for your consistent improvement of WikiTree by participation in the Sourcerers Project during 2023!
Helen (Thornton) Holt reached the Golden Achievement milestone by sourcing at least one profile in every month of the 2023 Sourcerers Project Sourcerers' Challenge.
Thank you for adding sources to Amos Bennett-25821. I see that you selected Harriett French-6110 as his wife. While I know he married a woman named Harriett, I did not know her maiden name or that she was the daughter of Ichabod French and Abigail Olmstead. Do you mind sharing the source of that information?
I'm new here and I don't want to add a new person that is already here. Thank you for the information that you placed on 2nd great-grandfather, Ira D. Quillen. There is already a profile for him (Ira D) and I don't know how to merge him as the father of my great-great-grandfather, Beverly Johnson Quillin. It feels that I might need to make a profile for Ira D...and then try to merge from there. Without adding an Ira, the comparison shows Ira D next to B.J....which of course, are not the same person. The father of my BJ. has the profile Quillen-552. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thank you so much providing the image of Reverend Henry Staples. He is a great-grandfather and I had no idea what he would look like if you had not provided his image. Thank you so much!
The Profile Improvement Project (PIP) is performing its first annual check-in with our project members. We are in the process of transitioning to a team structure. There will be three participant PIP Teams to start -- The Maintenance Category Team, the Unknowns Team, and the Biography Team. There is also the Voyage Team who guide new Voyagers. See the Profile Improvement Project Teams for a brief outline of each team. Please let us know which team(s) you would like to participate in.
We would also like to invite you to join the email GoogleGroup and text chat Discord channel for our project. (When you request to join our GoogleGroup, please be sure to include your Wiki ID). You will find more information on the GoogleGroup.
We thank you for all you do to help the Profile Improvement Project and WikiTree. The Project’s mission is to:
Make profiles beautiful! We clean up messy biography sections and sources, and try to set standards for attractive, useful, and well-written biographies, starting with those we manage.
We know you’re working on profiles *smile* We would like to hear about successes you’ve had toward the Project’s goals. We would also appreciate any feedback you might have to help us improve the Project. Please share your thoughts in a reply to this comment or privately via private message to either of us.
Thanks for your consistent sourcing with us, Helen!
Helen (Thornton) Holt reached the Golden Achievement milestone by sourcing at least one profile in every month of the 2021 Sourcerers Project Sourcerers' Challenge.
Thank you for your contributions to the December 2021 Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.
Hello Hellen. While checking ancestors not managed by me (and work on them not done by me), I ran into one of your profiles. Looks like we a probably cousins. Distant at 8th cousins - but our gedmatch results look promising. Me and my dad share 8.2 cM and 8.4 cM segments on the same chromosome, and in really close starting and ending locations.
Thomas Vinson Jr (1696-1764) is closest common ancestor. I enjoyed the really good work you did on your profiles with sources and bios. Also, looks like you are active in the Source-a-thons. Me too.
If you use facebook at all, I have a multi-family genealogy page with people that are related. I'll write to your email with the url. I don't think we are allowed to put urls in these boxes. Or you can go to my bio. It's public.
Thank you for your 206 contributions to the November Sourcerers Challenge! That's quite an achievement, and a great step forward for the health of our One Tree. Congratulations!
Hi Helen, thanks for trying to integrateJohanna Petronella (Badenhorst) de Vos (1803-). I was in the hospital when I last visited this profile in the beginning of this year and was negligent in leaving templates and categories to indicate that this is a project profile.
In the Dutch Cape Colony project, we do not follow PIP's journey because it is too impractical to work with narrated texts, Instead we collate data. Many of the pre-1800 profiles would have been merged over and over, due to duplicates. It is much easier to collate than narrate. Also we have quirks (as do other projects) of not using the middle name field, and signing our edits with our names.
The Pricilla Hewitt Wilbanks profile is on the merge list waiting for approval from other profile manager. It will stay on waiting list til other profile manger approves or for said time period then it will be merged, Thanks
Thanks for your note, Helen. I received the profile that you would like me to review. I'll be doing that tomorrow evening and should be getting back with you then or Sunday morning. Debi
I noticed you added Weaver as an interest so I checked to see if we are related. We are, but not as expected! It is through your grandfather's side rather than grandmother's. Just sharing. Amy
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.
Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Review the project page to learn how to collaborate with the project members.
Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.
I have used a gedcom a couple of times, once with the new procedure just to see how it works. You will wind up doing each entry one at a time even if you use a gedcom. Before deciding check out GEDCOM Help. Should answer some of your questions.
One factor to consider: you will not be able to load your entire tree from ancestry.com via gedcom. It is too large so you will need to split it into smaller files.
You are now a full member and can add your family to the big tree!
Start with our New Member How-To pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.
We are so happy to have you here in the WikiTree community. Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help! I've been here over 4 years and still don't have ALL the answers, but I try hard.
